Gillian is accepting new clients!
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Gillian (she/her), and I live on Coast Tsimshian Territory in Northern BC. I am a practicum student currently completing my Master’s of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I hold a Bachelor of Education from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria. My background in teaching and the fine arts brings a creative and collaborative approach to my counselling practice, shaping my belief that healing can be fostered through both creativity and community.
I view counselling as a space where individuals can explore challenges and emotions they may not have previously had the support or safety to process. As a counsellor, I strive to offer a secure and accepting environment that nurtures connection and trust. I believe healing is inherently relational, and I value the power of the therapeutic relationship in supporting growth and transformation.
I am passionate about attachment theory, which shapes how I support clients in understanding their relational patterns and emotional needs. This lens can help us explore how past experiences may influence present relationships and work to cultivate greater emotional security and connection. I also ground my work in a person-centred approach that honours each client’s unique story, strengths, and capacity for growth.
My practice is rooted in a trauma-informed perspective, and I strive to bring my values of authenticity, curiosity, humility, and relationship into every therapeutic encounter.
